The farmhouses are located among the Hills of Trasimeno, on top of a "toppello" (a small hill in Umbrian dialect) at 350 meters above sea level, dominated by three mountains: Monte Malbe, Monte Tezio, and Monte Acuto. 15km from Lake Trasimeno, the Casali del Toppello are an excellent starting point to visit intact natural landscapes and the beautiful art cities of this green region.
The property includes a whole hill dominated by the two farmhouses. In the 28 hectares of land, there are over 1600 olive trees and 8 hectares of vineyards, all part of the DOC Colli del Trasimeno, including varieties such as Sangiovese (big clone), Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines, Grechetto, Chardonnay, and Trebbiano for whites, and the indigenous red Trasimeno Gamay grape (actually a Grenache) for our rosé. There are also some wooded areas and a small lake that can be admired from one of our nature trails.
Our company was founded in 2009 by renovating farmhouses, warehouses, and lands belonging to an old agricultural company active since the early decades of the 1900s. The historical roots, however, are much deeper because within the property, among a portion of olive trees, remains of an ancient Roman settlement were found, revealing a real agricultural estate of that time. A little curiosity, the name of our wine Amantius dates back to the "praenomen" of the Roman family believed to be the owners of the Roman villa. Today, it is possible to find in the company several worked blocks of Roman cornelian stone used for the construction of walls and enclosures.
The pool-solarium occupies a marvelous panoramic position overlooking a wonderful view of the valley below, where the fields and trees change color according to the season, providing scenic effects and fascinating moments of relaxation, a serene and relaxing environment, ready to offer you a pleasant refreshment. Also open to external guests by reservation and for a maximum of 15 people.
